An intro. It is made of natural sounds, synthesized sounds and the voice of a very young girl, who reads the First Spell of Merseburg. (A.S.)

This song was the first one to record, so it was an intro to our first gigs in 2002. We had recorded the voice of Varya (she was eight then) with a notebook at home. She declaimed the First Spell of Merseburg. The Spells of Merseburg seem to be only pagan magic texts that have been written in Old High German and remained till present. The scrolls are dated to VIII Century or earlier. The spell used in Barditus is for healing limping horses and the word “Barditus” itself is a Roman word meaning a battle cry of Ancient Germans. A number of warriors wielding shields to resonate droned with their throats to scare their foe. Our Barditus is a modern version of this cry with some droning synthesized tracks instead of shields. It is a pity but there is another time now and there are no people who can drone for two minutes themselves… Where is that folk? (D.P.)
